My name is Debbie Tveit, and I am a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner dedicated to helping individuals achieve mental wellness. I started my nursing career in West Virginia almost 16 years ago and have spent the past 11 years practicing in Louisiana.

My personal mental health journey sparked my desire to help others learn that healing is possible and that having a mental health diagnosis does not define you or your potential. During my graduate studies at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, I discovered my passion lies in supporting children, adolescents, and young adults facing mental health challenges.

As a fellow neurospicy individual, I am especially passionate about supporting children, teens, and young adults—particularly those with ADHD and autism—who are navigating mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, and the effects of trauma.

Neurodivergent youth often experience unique stressors and higher rates of co-occurring mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, and trauma-related symptoms, which can impact their quality of life, social participation, and overall well-being.

My approach is informed by current research and lived experience, emphasizing the importance of individualized, strengths-based care that addresses not only symptoms but also the broader context of each person’s life, including family, social environment, and self-perception.

I strive to create a supportive, affirming space where all young people and their families feel understood, empowered, and equipped with practical tools for resilience and long-term mental wellness.

A Few Little Extras: I am a collector of hobbies, fueled by a love of learning and creating (everything from art to woodworking). I love hiking, when hiking means wandering around nature, finding cool rocks, fossils, plants, and the like. I am proud to be a very big nerd! (think Lego, Doctor Who, Harry Potter, LOTR, & Star Trek)
